A Draft of a letter I was tasked with writing intended to be sent to local businesses.

Re: Oddfellows Community Project
We here at The Oddfellows Community Project believe that a traditional local pub is the beating heart of a community. Every day, more and more local pubs are forced to close their doors as a result of high beer duty, rapidly rising business rates and VAT. Recent figures produced by Campaign For Real Ale (CAMRA) indicate that pubs are closing at a rate of 18 per week. This troubling statistic leaves the fate of the traditional Great British pub hanging precariously in the balance.
Unfortunately, The Oddfellows pub is not immune to this threat, and in fact is currently up for sale. However, an opportunity has arisen for the business to potentially be owned and run by members of the local community. The Oddfellows is very much a traditional community pub, and has been a part of the local tapestry of North Shields for many years. We are proud of our heritage and our history and wish to take steps to preserve it.
We have recently formed a steering committee with a view to taking affirmative action. One of the initial aims of the committee is to determine if there is a public interest in having a community led pub and identify any individual who would like to take part. To this end, we are writing to local businesses in the area, in hope that you show your support of The Oddfellows Community Project by signing our online petition which can be found here: (Insert Web Address).
