My first foray into the romance genre thanks to a wee nudge from Writer's Cramp.
Love found me under a summer sky.It walked right up to me with a wide grin and said, "Hello."
I shaded my eyes with a quivering hand.
Squinting, I espied a shimmering sun-haloed form.
I squirmed.
I fussed with a wayward shoulder strap.
Sand clumped in my damp swimsuit seemed to shift and chafe.
Water lapping, children laughing, birds chirping, breeze whispering, all muffled beneath a wave of exposure.
Tongue-tied, I hesitated.
Love could not be denied. He dropped next to me on the beach.
Brown eye ought mine appraising, questioning, appealing.
Despite the electric shock of recognition, I shivered.
"Hello," I croaked.
With a bold familiar heat, love found me under a summer sky. ( 13 lines )
