A Villanelle about finding love.
Love found me under a summer sky.
I’ve often hid beneath life’s shroud;
love softly spoke, urged me to try.

Beneath the sun Love asked me why;
it might be that I was too proud.
Love found me under a summer sky.

I know that love had passed me by;
played solitaire—two was a crowd.
Love softly spoke, urged me to try.

In summer, cirrus clouds soar high;
in lieu of sight my head was bowed.
Love found me under a summer sky.

The lid of love I did not pry;
in her sweet presence I was cowed.
Love softly spoke, urged me to try.

Now like a bird I’ve learned to fly;
I shout it to the heavens loud.
Love found me under a summer sky;
love softly spoke, urged me to try.
