Lesson learned from nature.
A maple leaf trembled in the autumn wind
The skies were overcast
I watched when it took that leap of faith
Letting go of mother at last
I had predicted its final destination
The frosty moss below
There to lie, die and rot
Covered in a blanket of snow

But the wind snatched that leaf
Sent it flying away
Down routes I had not foreseen
Into the forest white, green and grey
To places that it's never been
Adventuring along new paths
Living like one born again
Before it came to rest at last

Swirling away into the trees
As far as I could tell
It’s plan that, at first,
seemed brilliantly conceived
Had not worked out so well
But then I saw Nature’s gift
In my little leafy friend
For I understood the lesson
The new beginning at journey's end
