About my July Xmas gift, my son. 3rd Place Winner.
Christmas in July,
meant the world to me.
The month my son,
was born, you see.

He was big and strong,
and two weeks overdue.
A full head of hair,
with a curl or two.

As time passed,
and seasons sped right by.
He grew into a man,
I hardly knew when or why.

I was busy making money,
clothes don’t buy themselves.
And when my eyes were closed,
he grew up by himself.

Now he’s gone,
and July has lost its shine.
Christmas means much less.
Once your child dies.

For the Christmas in July contest
20 lines
Free verse, some rhyme

In loving memory of my son.
