Why do we always end up in a war?
Even dreams are no relief
To a soldier scarred & scored
Government’s all rage for peace
Even as they wage a war
Time may pass and wash their hands
But not the blood stains from their souls
Through their fingers slips the sands
Truth will make their blood run cold

Blood for power, blood for greed
Justify your bloody deeds
Blood on crosses, blood on swords,
Blood on the children of the Lord
Blood for oil, blood for gold
Blood on the earth of the lands you stole
Rivers of blood on the ground
Rivers of blood flowing down
Rivers of blood you'll drown
In the Rivers of Blood.

Even prayers give no relief
To the faithful scarred and scored
When there’s nothing to believe
What the hell are they fighting for?
Time will pass and wash their hands
Not the blood stains from their souls
Weapons fall from shaking hands
When the war machine has lost control

Blood for honor?…I don’t understand
Spill the blood of your fellow man
Blood for glory? Blood for truth?
Food for thought for the hungry youth
Blood’s for bloodlust, satisfy the need,
Blood’s the seed of your endless greed
Rivers of blood on the ground
Rivers of blood flowing down
Rivers of blood gonna drown
In the Rivers of Blood.
