Did you know that miscommunication is the main cause of ‘wrong site-wrong patient’ blunders in hospitals?
Over a six year period doctors in Colorado alone operated on the wrong patients 25 times, and the wrong body part in another 107 patients.

There are quite a few lessons to be learned from this terrifying information and one of the main ones is to communicate on every level. If you ever find yourself having to have a leg, or any limb or body part removed for that matter, my suggestion is to write a letter of warning to the surgeon in magic marker on the said limb.
There are a few things one could write. May I suggest a few? Maybe a dotted line saying “cut here,” or “It’s this leg doc!”
Whatever you decide, just make sure to communicate clearly, your good limbs may depend on it.
