I'm not myself before that first sip.
De-caffeinated Zombie

Barely keeping upright
it really is a struggle
getting from my bedroom
to kitchen is a muddle.
My eyelids are too heavy
and my brain is in a haze,
just getting to my kitchen
is like taking on a maze.
My body’s not responding,
synapses are misfiring,
who ever thought that getting up
would be so deeply tiring.
I’ll flick on that kettle
when I reach out with a trip
and chase away that zombie
when I take a welcome sip.
