Sacrifice a rural idyll for industry
In days gone by
The valley was green
Where sheep grazed
And a river meandered.
The city demanded water
And canals could not supply.

Where are the forgotten?

A dam of earth rose up
The river bloated
Beyond its ancient course.
Farms were drowned
And pastures lost.
Homes were flooded
And memories left
Under a lake of tears

Where are the forgotten?

Stagnant lives in city streets
Concrete instead of grass
Cars instead of sheep
Rigid canals for wandering rivers.
Grind in office and factory
Dwellings piled skywards

Where are the forgotten?
