A 36 line poem written for the Writer's Cramp Challenge 8/17/19.
Lost Luggage

I've been packed to bursting,
contents chosen with great care;
she was so indecisive
about what she needed there.
Finally, she's out of time,
we need to make a move;
I get bumped and jostled
on a journey far from smooth.
Put in to an aeroplane,
luggage on every side,
then up into the atmosphere
I fly with lots of pride.
Strange how when I'm taken out
the world is rather cold;
I'd expected something different
from the contents that I hold.
She does not come to get me
and I'm left to go around
for I am now 'lost luggage'
and I'm waiting to be found.
Back in to a plane again,
a new journey has begun;
we are heading southwards
going straight towards the sun.
Still we're not united,
for this place is way too hot;
her choice of destination, well,
this is surely not.
Time, it has been passing,
and I do not like to say
I think she will be heading home
without me on her stay.
And sure enough I get back home
from being so misplaced
only to discover that
I've gone and been replaced!
