A poem of 20 lines written for the Writer's Cramp prompt 9/6/19.
Dying Sun

A solar inhalation,
such power held within,
but then with its expulsion
destruction does begin.
Flares and flames erupting,
space alight with fire;
a heaving of the universe,
the sun, it does expire.

The planet Earth, once green and blue,
is struck with solar might
and leaves a vacancy in place
when it does ignite.

Cosmic chaos in full swing,
the solar system gone;
no particles are left behind -
catastrophe full on.
Supernova sitting there,
black hole will take its place,
and leave behind nothing at all
except for empty space.

(20 lines).
