Poem for Writer's Cramp
Black Cat Day

I've heard it said
That day's bad luck
Yes many think it's true

And I agree
But for one thing
Luck's bad for us, not you

When Friday's on
The 13th day
We black cats always hide

Beneath the sofa
Or the bed
We never go outside

For that's the day
The meanest dogs
On black cats get the drop

And rats and mice
All seek revenge
For they'll come out on top

The cars and buses
Swerve and turn
To squash some poor black cat

If they win
And catch us right
We'll end up pancake flat

So you can look
Both far and wide
When Friday's day thirteen

Those poor black cats
That bring bad luck
Are nowhere to be seen

When if on Fridays
Of that sort
You're in some kind of muck

And badly need
A cat that's black
That's when you're out of luck
