What appears strong and what appears weak. Perception can be askew.
I looked upon the world and sighed
muddied waters kept changing with the tide
little left of things that I once knew
nothing left of the life that was me and you

I stared up at the starry sky
I couldn't help but wonder why
if I hadn't thought to rule with a strong hand
would I still be a married man

my search for love brought me to your place
I saw a home and children in your face
yet here I sit alone with empty hands
the bottle the only friend that understands

I look upon the world and sigh
muddy waters keep changing with the tide
little left here of me and you
nothing left of the life that we once knew

I stare up at the starry sky
I wonder at how quickly it all died
If I had held our love in gentler hands
would I be sitting here a stronger man
