Two people talking about what's expected of them in conversation
I went outside with momentum. I knew what I was going to say. I lit a cigarette and started "So, just now I was trying to ring up some food and I asked Jen, she was on the phone taking an order but she was on hold or something, and I ask her 'Where can I ring up some food?' and she says 'Well, you can put in an order there but you can't pay for it because that computer doesn't have a drawer' and I'm like 'Yeah....' like, that's why I was asking you know?"
"Yeah that is annoying"............"I don't want to talk about that" She drags on her cigarette
"What do you want to talk about?"
"I don't know but I'm annoyed that I feel like I should have a response to that"

I don't say anything....I'm as relieved as I am offended for some reason
Silence
Silence
Cigarette
Silence
"Yeah this is way better" ugh we both try to laugh so I ask "If you had to do a Ted Talk what would it be about?"
She looks at me for what I think is the first time "It would be about how nowadays everyone feels like they need Ted Talk topics. Why can't people just....I don't know....what did people talk about before everyone could read? Bread? Did they talk about bread?? We've all been exposed to so much that real life isn't enough anymore it's like every conversation is being on someone's fucking podcast"

"Yeah but what if you had had a really good idea for a Ted Talk"
