I got behind in my flash fiction writing so I used prompts from 9 days to write this one.
|“I know you did it. My gold chain was in the box on top of the quilt. There has been no one else here so you took it.”
“I didn’t take your box but if you need a chain, here wear this one.”
“I’m not wearing that!”
I’ve been here before with your attitude. Get over it. This one is as good as the one you say I took. Now stop accusing me of taking something when I didn’t do it. You are nothing but a bitch.”
“How dare you call me a name like that! For now run along so I can get ready for work. We’ll settle this later.”
“No, we’ll settle it now. You will apologize for calling me a thief then I’ll leave you alone.”
“You are protesting too much. That is a sign of guilt. I read that somewhere.”
“I’m telling you the truth. I did not take it.”
Somewhere very loud music started to play causing her to jump and knock over the glass vase by the bed revealing the jewelry box containing her gold chain.
“Oh dear! You did not take it after all. How can I ever make it up to you for accusing you that way?”
He threw a book at her just missing her face. “It is too late. There is nothing you can say or do to make me change my mind. Our engagement is off. I wouldn’t marry you on a bet. Goodbye!”
