Caught in a dream, or is it more?
Octoberfest DDPC Round 34 Week 1 Prompt 10/1-10/8

A Living Nightmare

Dreaming and screaming, “Shut the door.”
Looking for a way out of here
while only living nightmares roar.

“I dare you to enter the store,”
where ugly frights bring only fear,
dreaming and screaming, “Shut the door.”

Boasting, “I'm brave forever more.”
I stumble as my tired eyes tear
while only living nightmares roar.

Daylight these fiends can't ignore.
The thought gives me a bit of cheer,
dreaming and screaming, “Shut the door.”

Walking and searching is a chore.
The entire time, their voices I hear
while only living nightmares roar.

My feet become weary and sore.
I'll never leave has become clear.
Dreaming and screaming, “Shut the door,”
while only living nightmares roar.
