I wondered,
Are we worth God's regard?
Why sacrifice His begotten Son,
To save our skin from sin?

In prayer,
I lay open my mind,
I lie supine, aligned with the source,
God's light shining within.

God is love.
(I note these inner thoughts.)
Of the parts He made in His image,
The first of these is love.

Poetry,
The works of Keats and Shelly.
Of the many ways they make me feel,
The first of these is love.

Fine painting,
I sell mine quite often,
Of rewards I most appreciate,
The first of these is love.

Graphic art,
Many drawings I do,
Of the reasons I take pen in hand,
The first of these is love.

My dear wife,
Partner in life's journey,
Of all divine gifts she gives to me,
The first of these is love.

My children,
Now here abides the rub,
Of reasons I sacrifice for them,
The first of these is love.

What is God?
Father, Son, Holy Ghost?
Of the many ways God comes to us,
The first of these is love.

Sacrifice?
Wouldn't you do the same?
Everyone knows there're things worth dying.
The first of these is love.
