A Doobie Brothers’ song title--which is good advice.
My spine tingles, I smile within
when music plays, when melodies
and rhythms parade proudly,
when rock and roll rumbles,
or ballads deliver polite

We have come far
from vinyl, from the old
78’s, 45’s, LPs, and even
CDs are now passé, what
with Walkman’s and computers.

Listen to all types of music; that
is sure to enrich, educate, please
and smooth the sharp edges
of the day-to-day.  A myriad
of melodies, of harmonies;
countless songs evidence
of human imagination,
of life’s spirit.

A computer is a magnificent
conduit, one’s own personal
radio station, commercial free.
A click of the mouse, the artist’s
name—let the music flow, and feel
the euphoria, the amazing way
is can lend relaxation.

Give it your undivided attention,
no matter what your musical taste.
Listening is an art, and that art
provides comfort and delight.

I will admit that quiet time
has its place.  Yet music
gives life, pacifies…
its own prescription
tranquilizer, in a way.

Pleasure awaits
when we listen to
to the music. The
Doobie Brothers

had it right.
