Appointment

“What day is it? It isn’t Tuesday, is it?”

“No, Dear, I think it’s Thursday...” Greta answered, “Why?”

Letting out a sigh of relief, Sam said, “I thought I missed an appointment. It’s on Tuesday, I forgot to write it on the schedule.”

“You didn’t mention...”

“Yeah, I made it of the spur of the moment. Frank was telling me about this guy he goes to. Sounded good so I made an appointment. They’d just had a cancelation so I could get that one, on Tuesday.”

“Why didn’t you tell me? What was it for?”

“He specializes in memory. You know I’ve been nervous about forgetting things lately. I just wanted to check in with somebody and make sure it was normal.”

“You’ve always had a terrible memory. Me too. Why were you suddenly concerned now?”

“Well, I don’t want it to get even worse when I’m not paying attention, and then have it be too late to do anything about it. That would be even harder on you.”

“I suppose that’s a good idea. Why didn’t you tell me about it?”

“I forgot, you were over at Frannie’s, by the time you got home I’d forgotten.”

“I was over at Frannie’s yesterday...”

“No, the last time you were at Frannie’s.”

“That was Monday... when you went over to Frank’s...Oh crap, and today’s Friday not Thursday, I missed Bridge club again!”

“And, I did miss that appointment!”

“Well, call and make another one, apparently, we both need it!”
