The Secret

“Promise you won’t tell anyone.”


“What I’m about to tell you.”

“Why not?”

“Because it’s a secret.”

“What’s a secret?”

“The thing I’m going to tell you.”

“What thing?”

“The secret.”

“What is a secret?”

“Oh, you mean what is a secret?”

“What is a secret?”

“A thing that not everybody knows.”

“Like how to fly to the moon?”

“No. Like something that you want only a few people to know, but not everybody.”

“Like when you wet your pants?”

“Ah, maybe... This is a fun secret.”

“Then why is it a secret?”

“It’s a surprise.”

“You got me a surprise!”

“No... it’s a surprise for Grandma.”

“You got Grandma a surprise... and not me?”

“Well, it’s not a surprise thing, it’s a surprise because it’s her birthday!”

“Grandma doesn’t know when her birthday is!? But she’s so old already!”

“How about we surprise you with ice cream instead,” Gramps said quickly.


Grampa wiped the sweat off his forehead and prepared for a trip to the ice cream shop thinking, “I am definitely too old for this...”
