The Holiday season
It's the nostalgia time of year,
when holidays and memories conspire
to transport me
to another time and place.

When the aroma
on the autumn wind
takes me back to Oklahoma
and Halloween--
to Grandma's oatmeal raisin
or peanut butter cookies--
to my brother shouting
"What's up, Doc?"
instead of Trick-or-Treat.

It's the nostalgia season,
when the holidays
arrive one right after another--
Halloween-Thanksgiving-Christmas-New Year's Day--
and their memories merge
into a collage
of scents and sounds
that draw me back to Blackwell
and my Grandparents' house.
