Stormy's Poetry Contest entry
His footprints in the dirt road,
Lead away from Middletown.
Over bridge and field,
When dew was laying down.

Every dawn before him,
He carried an old flag.
The flag was of his country,
Folded neatly in his bag.

Given by his father,
His father boldly said,
Always keep this with you,
Close to your heart and head.

And when your days are over,
Take it to your grave.
Bring it up to Heaven,
When your soul is saved.

Lay it down before God's throne,
For it's been truly blessed,
Kneel before the Master,
Make just one request.

When setting up your kingdom,
Lord, let this old flag fly,
Let the red, white, and blue,
Be the colors of the sky.

May Heaven know old glory,
As it was meant to be,
Above the home of the brave,
And the land of the free.
