A trusting heart is crushed
As I stumble and reel in shock
I can only ask you why
Why the false accusations
Why the cruelty in your eyes

I was honest and very kind
In my soul I believed in you
Something beautiful was being created
I thought you felt it too

You painted a pretty picture
Then lured me in with gentleness
I thought I was home at last
Your arms gave me a place to rest

I couldn't see what was up ahead
I was just playing the blind fool
Although you uttered many tender words
Your love for me had cooled

The sun's rays of gold turned black
As you turned on me with loathing
You crushed my heart and I learned too late
You're a wolf in sheep's clothing
