A 28 line poem written for the Writer's Cramp prompt, 10/22/19.
Mr President

Please, now, Mr President,
take a look and see,
you've not been re-elected -
you surely must agree.

There's no use in you fighting
for the votes have now been cast,
your elevated status
is now firmly in the past.

Don't go and throw a tantrum,
don't have a hissy-fit;
this really is behavior
that no way can befit.

You need to take the action,
pass along the key;
hand it to your next in line,
and yes, that would be me.

I'll not be a cruel leader
and you'll have the time to pack;
just ensure that you take everything,
you won't be coming back.

Hey now, Mr President,
that title is no more;
stop your noisy sobbing
lift yourself back off the floor.

You served your time in office
and I think you must confess
that never has another made
such a toxic mess.
