Birches on a sunny winter day.
Stoic silver birches,
naked to the world,
dressed only in glass,
ice from a storm
that glitters like diamonds
along their limbs
the light glimmering
in little dazzling rainbows
as the northern winds
make the boughs
bob and weave
a colourful display
for their neighbouring pines
to help pass the time
while the forest dreams
of spring.
