An Old Fashion Thanksgiving Feast
Half the day was spent in preparation,
A thousand little details to attend:
Potatoes peeled, halved, boiled, mashed, and buttered;
Pumpkin, sweet potato, and mince pies to slice;
Yams , turkey and dressing in the oven.

The aromas drifted all through the house,
Ham waiting to be sliced off its bone,
Asparagus, green beans, corn on the cob--
No one ever left the table hungry--
Kippers, deviled eggs, and blue cheese salad dressing,
Sliced tomatoes, croutons, lettuce, cabbage,
Gravy, onion, cubed cheese, pickles, and creamed spinach,
Ice cream, whipped cream, jello, chocolate cake,
Vanilla, chocolate, and banana pudding.
Individual blessings were retold and rephrased--
Nothing was too exotic for us to eat--
Giving thanks to God for all Hiss bounties.
