A recap of last night's Buffalo/Toronto game.
|It was a big night for Toronto Maple Leaf's Auston Matthews.
Matthews scored two goals, including, his 20th of the season in a 5-3 win over the Buffalo Sabres.
"I really liked our start to the game," said Leaf's head coach, Sheldon Keefe at the post game press conference.
Frederik Gauthier opened the scoring for the Leafs at 2:30 of the first period.
In the second period, Matthews scored back-to-back goals at 4:47 and 17:39.
Keefe said in the press conference that he wasn't too happy on how his team played in the second period.
"I didn't like a lot of our game in the second period," said Keefe.
Rasmus Dahlin put Buffalo on the scoreboard just 1:29 into the third period.
Dmytro Timashov put the Leafs ahead by three goals again at 4:58.
Jack Eichel made it a 4-2 game at 6:30.
Kyle Okposo closed the gap at 4-3 at 14:41.
Fortunately for Toronto, Ilya Mikheyev scored a short handed, empty net goal at 17:26.
Buffalo's Victor Olofsson had two assists.
Toronto's Tyson Barrie also had two assists last night.
Toronto is off for two days before heading to New York to face the Rangers on Friday night.
