I wrote this poem about the doubts experienced in an old relationship.
|Darling, you're sweet, but love is bitter
When tempers hotly flicker out,
When arguments give way to doubt,
When tiny sleights make heavy hitters
More permanent than joy or glitter,
Balloons that won’t come down, and vows
Delivered by high-school dropouts.
Is this the thunderbird’s last twitter?
Or will this storied bird prove true
And roar across our lives?
And fly so we might touch that blue
And reach into the heart of you
To make a giant rise?
