This Christmas.
DDPC Round 35 Prompt 2 Dec 2019

'Twas the night--
Bah humbug,
turning off the light
on the tree
next to me.

Sitting in the dark,
pain
too much pain.

Life was easy
when it was carefree.

Traffic looms
like a monster,
roaring,
stinking.

Sitting in a car,
waiting,
hating,
the commute.

Presents under the tree,
but none are for me.
I left long ago:
this world.

Haunting and haunted
because of memories past.
Want to move on
but can't.

Sitting in the dark,
my friend.
As light comes,
I fade.

This Christmas
will never end.
