A haven, or a deceptive veneer. My Word 1/7/2020
White For Innocence...
Net curtains, drapes bleached white
that speak of peace,
of innocence;
but really, have you ever thought
of what goes on behind them.
Maybe what they say is true,
and inside is a haven,
a tranquil place;
but sometimes they are nothing more
than a screen of respectability,
a barely disguised perversion
of the truth
of what goes on behind them.
A veneer of perfection that prevents the prying,
where sobs are choked back
and those blackened smudges
of blood under skin
are covered beneath clothing
and not one word will ever be spoken
that will break their illusion
of innocence
and peace.
