An adventure for one, terror for another.
|"I knew it! I knew it! Sheila, I told you this would happen. I can't believe I let you get me up here. How high are we anyway? Never mind - I don't really want to know. How can you just sit there, Sheila? Don't you realize we could plunge to our deaths at any moment?"
"Eddie! Stop trying to scare me. We're fine."
"Me, scare you? You're the one scaring me! This was your idea, and now this."
"Just relax, Eddie. You heard that announcement. It's just a minor mechanical problem. I'm sure they'll have it fixed in a few minutes. Enjoy the view. Look, I can see your house down there."
"I don't want to see my house from up here. I want to see it from the inside. I was ready to have a nice safe day on the couch. We could be eating popcorn and binge-watching old episodes of Star Trek or something. But no, you wanted to go up where only birds belong!"
"Come on, Eddie. You're thirty-five. You need a little adventure in your life. Now, make sure your seat belt's tight. I wouldn't want you sliding around."
"Sliding around? Are you kidding? A fat lot of good a seat belt's going to do when tons of metal and plastic come crashing down around us! You know I love you, Sheila, but if we die, I am not going anywhere with you, ever again!"
"Was that a joke, Eddie? Wow! Laughing in the face of danger. Maybe there's hope for you yet. Anyway, while you were complaining, we made it safely back. Now, unfasten your seat belt and let's get off this thing. I can see that the Ferris wheel was too much for you. Next time we'll try the merry-go-round.
