My thoughts on why I'm not interested in the big game...
|Well, the weekend is now officially over and done with; Next Sunday, every single football fan in America will be tuning in to that grand finale of the entire football season (while I am hoping that this would get their minds off of that goofy, dorky British sci-fi show), the Super Bowl, or as some would call it The Big Game.
Now, ordinarily, there are those who have been rooting for their favorite teams the whole, entire season who think that they would watch the big game only if a football team has won a championship and that they have made it to the game. But unfortunately for them, their team would lose, and that they would be in so much misery that they could no longer watch the big game or vice versa…
Now back in 2018, the Philadelphia Eagles had finally won the big game for the very first time in 60 years, and I am glad that my family, who happen to be fans of the team, have become so very happy that they have won, so much so that they skipped work to travel to my former home of Philadelphia just to see that championship parade.
Now, fast-forward to today, in 2020; and once again, just like last season, the Eagles had not made it into a championship enough to make it to another Super Bowl game. Always a bridesmaid, never a bride, bub! And do you want to know something else? I am betting that my family would skip watching the big game this year, and maybe that stinky British sci-fi show, and would stick to a 72-hour Brady Bunch Variety Hour marathon!
Now, here is the thing: Yours truly is just not into those big games; One would only watch it if their own favorite team has made it so very far. Otherwise, a certain team loses and kisses their chances of a big game goodbye, and then people would not ever watch it. As I have been mentioning earlier, I am not really into the big game-I’m not even a football fan, for goodness sake! Football just simply isn’t for me…
And so, this coming Sunday, like all of the previous years of my life, I am just going to ignore the big game, and just go to my writing projects. Don’t expect me to root for a team, even if it isn’t in my hometown, anytime soon.
