The slow death within of a once great people.
We are stalked
the Council circles
predator gazes
on ample prey

We are hunted
the Government growls
and we herd together
facing outwards

We are trapped
nowhere to run
no more hiding from
the slow death

We are civilized
domesticated
bleating futilely at policy
and politicians

We are native
but I wonder
when the wolves
became the sheep
