9/11, the war on terror and economic downturn are just some of the things we will discuss
|George W Bush’s presidency had enough foreign policy to fill an essay, so that’s what I am going to try to do. Hello everyone and welcome back to presidents in review where we look at presidents and see what they did while in office. The support on my first two pieces has been overwhelming so I am now ready to deliver everyone a piping hot review of politics.
We start off in the year 2000 where we’re coming to the end of Bill Clinton presidency which ended in disaster. Now we have a presidential election of the millennium literally because they will be in the first election of the millennium. This election consists of former Vice President Al Gore and son of George HW Bush, George W Bush. After one of the closest elections, so close that it went to the supreme court, in a 5 to 4 decision they decided that Bush won the state by 535 votes out of the 6 million votes cast. In the first 2 years of George W Bush’s presidency, he passed two major tax cuts, one in 2001 and the other in 2003. On September 11, 2001, America was put into a state of emergency, due to the terror attack on the twin towers and the pentagon killing 2996 people including 2977 victims and 19 people who hijacked the planes. This ended up causing the invasion of Iraq, also known as the war on terror. This war is what defined his presidency considering this war was not very popular due to the fact that it seemed like, to some people that George HW Bush invaded Iraq due to oil. When there was an economic downturn at the tail end of his presidency and the beginning of Barak Obama’s presidency in 2008. It left a sour taste in the mouth of many people.
This is the final presidency that happened during my lifetime and this will have to be the hardest one to do, due because I don’t have the strongest opinions about George HW Bush unlike Barak Obama or Donald Trump.
