A glimpse about Whitney syllabic poetic form which is a popular shortest forms of poems.
Whitney syllabic poetic form is a very popular poetry form in today’s world. This was invented by Betty Ann Whitney.
The characteristics of this form are given below:--
1. It is seven lines long poem.
2. The number of syllables is fixed in each line. The number of syllables in the first line is three The number of syllables in rest of the lines is four, three, four, three, four and seven respectively.
3. This is an unrhymed poetry form.
4. There is no restriction in the genre. So, this type of poem can be written on any subject.
Here is a poem I write a Whitney syllabic poetic form as an example:

Your Magic
Somik Bandopadhyay


Your beauty
Mesmerized me
Forever,
Reason unknown
But it’s true,
This magic can
Be performed by you only.



This poem follows all the necessary rules which are mentioned above.
It is a romantic poem.
This type of poem can also be written based on any other subject.
