What is a reason and what an excuse

Excuses, excuses I don’t want to hear
All make mistakes, especially me
Own it, repent, examine, improve
Don’t repeat
If you don’t learn you’ll end in defeat

Understanding comes slowly
Reasons you seek
But tell me the reasons
And all I will say
