confronted in a Coronasonnet poem
Deadly tentacles spread
disease around with ease,
in spite of strong decrees,
and leave us mourning dead.
The days and weeks ahead
will knock us to our knees
without true remedies
and cripple us with dread.

THESE MENTAL SOUVENIRS
WILL RETAIN UPPER HAND--
A PLAY OF HOPES AND FEARS
IN VEILS, AND DROWNED IN TEARS
--
'TIL WE GAIN SOME GRIP AND
FIND A WAY TO SHIFT GEARS.

Notes on the Coronasonnet form of poetry
