I move like a force possessed.
Unstoppable. It has control of me like a hand, gripping my throat
So tightly it clenches. I can't breathe anymore.
Whether I have forgotten how or don't need to anymore - it doesn't matter.
Under the wavy surface of the water I'm drowning.
Pulled under by forces beyond. I can't move. I can't get up.
A hand keeps me under while another pulls me out.
I cough and choke and spit.
The pieces of the tree I inhaled come out and I spit them all over a shoulder.
A man is carrying me away. I am cold and soaked through. The wind makes me colder.
I am shaking but I no longer feel.
I just know I have eluded death, but how many lives do I have left?

Will she find me?
Here in this place full of half-imagined stories and dreams.
Broken pieces strewn across the floor.
Visions of something half remembered
Starved away
Beaten and empty
Just living on fumes and willpower.
The only thing left that no one can take.
My will is strong. You can't take it. It is mine.
My one and only true possession.
In an endless battle with the rest of the controllers.
Always on the edge of taking over my mind.
You can shred my soul, you can rip my heart out, you can eat me alive, but you can never fully possess my mind.
Fighting forever.
Like any real guardian would.
