Looking for poetry submissions from poets in the Asia Pacific region about palliative care

Singaporean literary organisation Sing Lit Station is teaming up with the Asia Pacific Hospice Palliative Care Network to publish an anthology of poetry that increases awareness and appreciation of palliative care in the Asia Pacific Region.

We accept poetry submissions in fifteen languages from everyone in the Asia Pacific Region whose lives have been touched by terminal illness. Poems should embody themes of hope, mortality resilience, and courage in the face of adversity.

Select contributors will be invited to attend the Asia Pacific Hospice Conference 2021 in Kobe, Japan to share their story and read their poems.

1. Entry is free. All poems are to be submitted in .pdf or .docx format in 12 point Times New Roman.

2. Please include the following details in your submission:
         o Your full name
         o Your date of birth
         o Your country of residence
         o Your country of origin
         o Languages spoken
         o A short bio (3-4 lines)

3. Please indicate if you are available and interested to attend the Asia Pacific Hospice Conference in Kobe, Japan between 10–13 November 2021 to share your poetry, if you are invited to present. Travel and accommodation will be provided.

4. Once you have prepared the above, submit your poem to submission@athousandcranes.org with a cover letter briefly explaining your reasons for submitting to this anthology, as well as your personal experiences (if any) with palliative care and/or terminal illness.

Coping with death and dying is not a topic that’s often discussed, and yet it’s an inevitable reality of every human life. Whether you are a patient, family member, friend or healthcare professional dealing with a terminal illness, hearing from others who have been through the same experience can be a source of comfort and strength. With this anthology, Sing Lit Station (SLS) and the Asia Pacific Hospice Palliative Care Network (APHN) aim to increase awareness for the concept of hospice and palliative care, and to facilitate thoughtful discourse surrounding this topic.

Everyone living in the Asia Pacific region who has been touched by the benefits of palliative care is welcome to submit their poetry for inclusion in this anthology. Submissions will be accepted in any of the main languages spoken in the Asia Pacific region.
