A column about the current plans for resuming the National Hockey League this year.
|Yesterday, National Hockey League's Commissioner, Gary Bettman, announced the plans for resuming the season this year.
First of all, the 2019/20 regular season is done.
The league decided to go straight to the playoffs with a totally different format.
There are 12 teams from the Eastern and Western Conferences.
The format comprises of a round-robin, and a best-of-five series.
The later rounds are best-of-seven series.
Did you get all that?
I know. It's complicated.
Now, the playoffs are going to happened if it is safe.
Training camp is supposed to start on July 1.
This means hockey is going to take place in the summer.
I'm not too exited about this, even though, I love hockey.
I'm really on the fence about this.
Among the 12 teams is the Montreal Canadiens who were on the brink of missing the playoffs before the season stopped.
Imagine the Habs. winning the cup?
It doesn't really matter anyway.
The season probably is going to have an asterisk beside it.
