A woman discovers her date has a hidden secret.
Repeatedly Late Date

It was half-past the hour,
Brian was late again.
I gave him some leeway
because of the virus,
but he takes advantage.
I think tonight’s the last drumbeat
for our relationship.
I decided to can his excuses,
and sell them for a profit.
At least the profit would come when I expected it.

Brian finally arrived and took to our usual restaurant,
and it was all so strange.
No crowds,
Everyone wore a mask
and stood the acceptable distance from each other.
It was like, so weird.
How do you eat through a mask?
Worse yet, how do lovers kiss
when observing CDC requirements?
I didn’t have to wait long,
Brian had the answer, you see.
We stood beneath the porch light,
the most boring date
I almost took flight.
Finally, we lean in for the finale,
To this torture.
How do you kiss wearing a mask?
Brian had the answer.
Didn’t even ask,
Just bit my neck.
Weird huh?
I said goodbye.

The month past quickly,
the moon was full,
my neck suddenly stiff,
insatiable taste for blood
Brian long has gone,
He didn’t even call.

The moral of this story,
always be sure your date
is never late.
