A poem about the social divide.

They tell us their stories,
A truth that has no bearing,
oppression, be its name,
for the skin, I'm wearing.

All minds are delicate,
our thoughts all matter,
emotions left deeply cut,
by the shards that shatter.

We should strive on,
working on a better tomorrow.
Not burning beneath the sun,
nor bitter in the darkness of sorrow.

Evil exists that’s the sad truth,
tick for tack can never work,
that’s when all hell is let loose.
Join, unite, come together.
It’s through ourselves good is alive,
in each of us, we bring out the better.

Be driven by empathy,
don’t succumb to the malice.
Let us all be open and understanding,
against forces most callous.

The world has become scary,
and divided we all stand.
Through one another,
we’ll find an answer.
That’s what our futures demand.
