Anniversary Gift

My husband promised me a surprise anniversary gift
​He hinted that it would be a trip to a B and B
It had charm and was very cozy
But best of all, it was located on an island near the sea
I hoped that this plan was genuine
Waves crashing on the sand sounded truly ideal
Watching seagulls fly around in the cloudy blue sky
Would give my tired nerves a welcome new feel
My eagerness for celebration was interrupted
As my bright smile suddenly turned into shock
Where we were going was a place that was unbelievable
And took me back in time like a historical clock
We landed by boat at a lighthouse
The lover's nest was the keeper's old room
But when I stepped inside from the beginning
The power of suggestion dissolved any feeling of gloom
The whole weekend experience was romantic
My husband became a new man with a heart of gold
Our happiness was filled with other surprises
As the openness of our emotions was something to behold.
