Poem written as contest entry
Those angel wings that once delighted me
Now sting and burn as you soar away
The freezing cold wind left in your wake
Has turned my world from colourful rainbows
Into dark grey skies with thick, heavy clouds.

Those angel wings that once comforted me
Now look to be those of a demon
So I sit and watch as fields of flowers
Slowly wither and fall to the ground
More carnage as a reminder of your presence.

Those angel wings that once made a believer of me
Convinced me I had found my saviour
But you were a storm disguised as the sun
Raining on everything you scorched
And raining heaviest on me.
