A poem about insomnia
Sleep Still Eludes

A thousand thrashing thoughts,
Stealing much needed sleep,
Thieves to my dreams,
Night to dawn slowly creeps.

What plagues this night?
What agonizes my mind?
Breathe easy and deep
Pray for peace to find.

Earth slowly spins,
Worries spiral quick
Sleep still eludes
My head’s evil trick.

Morning comes like always,
Night’s anguish gone for now,
Give the day my everything,
‘Till sleep comes somehow.
