A poem to a lost love
Wish you were here, but you're not.
Memories bring back you,
Remember eating apricot
And we hoped your visit pulled through.

Drinks helps us forget the pain
So we don't drink, we communicate.
Remember the baby we couldn't maintain
And that you always got checkmate.

Did I date first or did you?
Separated by an ocean we were friends
Who love, like a tattoo:
Forever. Let us make amends.

You phoned to say you'd be wed,
I cried, I was so surprised,
You'd never written about the road ahead.
Perfection you characterized.

When I believed in forever,
And everything would stay the same.
I'd be your friend wherever.
And I could have worn your family name.

I'm glad you found someone else,
I hope she's perfect for you.
I hope she offered you something else.
I still wanted our friendship to come through.
