|Just because He’s Black
By Lisa N oe
He was a strong man good in soul,
A spiritual man who loved the Lord so.
An African American and proud to be
But that is all many people did see.
They followed him around every store
They accused him of stealing just because he was poor.
He did nothing wrong but they called the cops
He was held with a gun by the owner of the shop.
He reached for identification in his coat pocket,
The cop got nervous and let out a shot,.
It killed him right there on that spot.
He did nothing wrong, but be of color
THe officer then lied and said he reached for a gun
The cop was a racist, he did it on purpose and thought it was fun.
People tended to believe what the cop said,
It was a truly black day, as a good man lay dead.
The city became enraged, a peaceful protest let the people have a say
His family cried . they put flowers where he laid, the people prayed.
All races marched for equal rights, The man had to lose his life,
So that all people can have the right to live in peace, a black man don’t have to die.
