|For the second game in a row, Toronto Maple Leaf's Mitch Marner was the factor, scoring two goals in last night's 3-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets.
There was no scoring in the first period.
Shots on goal was even, 10-10.
Leaf's Captain, John Tavares, opened the scoring at 5:28 in the second period.
Marner put Toronto up 2-0 at 18:39.
Winnipeg got on the scoreboard at 19:13 with a goal by Kyle Connor.
Toronto outshot Winnipeg in the second period 22-6.
Marner sealed the deal for Toronto with an empty netter at 19:37 of the third period.
In the end, Toronto outshot the Jets 38-28.
Leaf's head coach, Sheldon Keefe, expressed how he felt about his team's progress at the post game press conference last night.
"We definitely seen progress in a lot of areas," said Keefe.
Toronto's Justin Holl had two assists last night.
Jet's goalie, Connor Hellebuyck stopped 35 shots last night.
Toronto hosts the Edmonton Oilers tomorrow night.
