The effects of the World War on the youth of the time.

How does a mother stop
Those tears behind her eyes
From flowing down her cheeks;
With pride she looks and sighs.

Each precious one she bore
Is called away to fight
So young each one, so small.
Dark times will strip the light

From all their lives, dragged down
Into a nightmare world
Of fear, life not the same.
Child into man unfurled.
