The Toronto Maple Leaf's offence exploded last night as the team clobbered the Vancouver Canucks 7-3. "I was happy the guys came out and executed here today," said Leaf's head coach, Sheldon Keefe at the postgame press conference. Leaf's veteran, Jason Spezza had a hat-trick last night. Auston Matthews opened the scoring for Toronto 2:56 into the first period. Tanner Pearson tied the game at 6:24. Toronto went ahead again at 10:15 with Spezza's first goal of the game. Toronto out shot Vancouver in the first 12-6 Matthews scored his eighth goal of the season just 3:04 of the second period. 18 seconds later, Vancouver's Bo Horvat scored. Spezza put the Leafs up by two goals again with his second goal of the game at 8:44. Leaf's Captain, John Tavares scored at 17:56. Spezza scored his final goal of the game at 4:34 of the third period. Canuck's J.T. Miller made it a 6-3 game at 8:14. At 11:37, Mitch Marner scored Toronto's seventh goal. Toronto out shot Vancouver in the third period 14-5. Leaf's William Nylander had three assists. Leafs out shot the Canucks last night 37-19. Miller had two points. Canuck's goalie, Thatcher Demko stopped 30 shots last night. Toronto plays Vancouver again tomorrow night. |
